“Sombras” is built in a sort of unusual scenic landscape, full of unexpected and contrasting events. It is a multidisciplinary show, decidedly set against the habits of the “merger” or “world music”. Fado is about a suffering heart and Fandango is about a kind of euphoric ride.

ON STAGE
My daughter, my daughter, my
daughter! … I am … you are… lost and
dishonoured… infamous! Oh!
my daughter, my daughter!…
Madalena
Hold your peace, D. Madalena!
The mercy of God is infinite. Wait. I doubt,
I do not believe … these are not things to believe
in lightly. Oh! Divine inspiration … You are well aware of thatman, Romeiro, is it not?
Jorge
Like myself.
Romeiro
If you will see him … though in other
clothes … with fewer years, painted, let’s say,
would you recognise him?
Jorge
As if I would see myself in a mirror.
Romeiro
Find these pictures and tell me if
any of them he may be.
Jorge
That’s the one.
Romeiro
My daughter, my daughter, my
daughter! … I am … you are… lost and dishonoured …infamous! Oh!
my daughter, my daughter …
Madalena
Romeiro, Romeiro, who are you?
Jorge
No one!
Romeiro
