Made specifically for television and now a studio in Ansião, the programme Luis de Matos 3D  was the first successful experience of creating a 3D show for television.

There have been made a series of experiences in other countries and many without much success. For this reason, and soon after the definition of the order, we began collecting and researching in order to create the 3D television phenomenon.

To think of a scenic device to a live performance implies a prior definition of the different actions and events the show has to offer.

The show has a global idea and the scenery is not just the place for the succession of moments or actions; it should thrive with the magic and engage the audience in the illusion that is created … until exhaustion. In this show we wanted many places, various types of illusion, from large scale to small-scale, from levitation to the pure representation; from machines to hand tricks, in continuous, uninterrupted and at high speed… something new that few had attempted. The device had to be plural and able to absorb creative and rapid changes, without noticing,  the viewer does not become distracted, without leaving the fantasy and the engaging and intelligent magic that only Luis de Matos knows how to do.

Magic seems to be easy when we look at the tricks that were recorded. And how good it is, even now, that magic seems to be so easy!

“I wish Porto2001 can be seen as  a culture’s forest, and not only a tree “ , I remember having written in the drawing that I offered to an old friend and artist of our capital.

Maybe Porto2001  would not be a mere event, an isolated act, a lost manifestation without continuity. I was designing a set of “Trees” to build the visual and scenic landscape of the orchestra and that would allow me, at the same time, to correct, as if it were an acoustic shell, the sound in the large room of Oporto’s Coliseum. Again, new materials,  new joints and freedoms,  experimentation and the search for innovation.

It is always important to know other realities to address our reality.

From Architecture I import the organization, from Design the chromatic variations, from Engineering the spotlight direction and from construction the properties of materials, from drawing the willingness to communicate and why not, to pass on a message!
