Mistérios was the title of a Luis de Matos’s series of programmes   with the idea of the interaction with the guests and the development of  themes or concepts that the audience chose to appear on these programmes. The idea of a large file, a privy and a magical table was just the programmatic basis for the design of space that would create scenery. The demand for innovation, differentiation and creation of new shows made the producers use the white colour as a distinguishing sign of the programme as opposed to the usual process of association of magic with a dark space. The white light on the white space was the motto and the sign that magic is a place where we want to live.

Everything is white, only the lights lend a colour signal … without spoiling the magic that space, empty and nakedness, provokes in us.

Made specifically for television and now a studio in Ansião, the programme Luis de Matos 3D  was the first successful experience of creating a 3D show for television.

There have been made a series of experiences in other countries and many without much success. For this reason, and soon after the definition of the order, we began collecting and researching in order to create the 3D television phenomenon.

To think of a scenic device to a live performance implies a prior definition of the different actions and events the show has to offer.

The show has a global idea and the scenery is not just the place for the succession of moments or actions; it should thrive with the magic and engage the audience in the illusion that is created … until exhaustion. In this show we wanted many places, various types of illusion, from large scale to small-scale, from levitation to the pure representation; from machines to hand tricks, in continuous, uninterrupted and at high speed… something new that few had attempted. The device had to be plural and able to absorb creative and rapid changes, without noticing,  the viewer does not become distracted, without leaving the fantasy and the engaging and intelligent magic that only Luis de Matos knows how to do.

Magic seems to be easy when we look at the tricks that were recorded. And how good it is, even now, that magic seems to be so easy!

The magical world of Luis de Matos is full of joy and imagination. A world of work and perfection, based on a comprehensive, and yet, efficient team. All figures are challenges, even when there’s simplicity and lightness hidden. Infinite threads of mysteries and fantasy require a permanent alert. The scenery seems not to interfere, it is always what you wish, in order to the magic to unfold.

The pleasure of discovery, the satisfaction of surprise, the tension of vertigo and the cadence of the show are not compatible with hesitations, doubts or uncertainties. The scenario is pure fantasy and illusion is our better reality. “What would the world be without illusion?”
